Rekindle the Flame: Embracing Spiritual Power for Real Change

In today's church, there's a noticeable absence of spiritual power. Some people may dismiss the need for miraculous signs, but the truth is that spiritual power is so important. We need to be a people willing to be filled with the Holy Spirit so we can be capable of bringing about real change.

A lack of spiritual power not only causes division but also opens the door to harm and destruction. The story of the boy possessed by a spirit in Mark 9 shows us that unchecked evil can lead to physical and spiritual damage. It’s another reminder that the enemy seeks to destroy, and without the Holy Spirit's power, we are vulnerable.

The father of the possessed boy expresses something that I think a lot of us can relate to: belief intertwined with unbelief. “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” This honest confession highlights the struggle between knowing God's capabilities and doubting His willingness to act—how many of us have been there before?? But spiritual power helps us overcome this doubt and trust in God's promises.

So how do we grow in our spiritual power? Humility, faith, and consistency in prayer. Let’s start with humility. Everything comes from God. Without God, we lack any authority to overcome spiritual darkness. It’s through humility that God is able to work through us in His power.

Belief in God's power is crucial, but so is the faith that He will act according to His will. The father's plea, "Help me overcome my unbelief," is such a powerful example of how we have to confront our doubts with faith.

I’m sure you’ve heard over and over again the phrase “consistency is key.” But really, what better way to grow in not only spiritual power, but your whole relationship with God than to pray consistently? Spending time sitting in God’s presence and talking with Him is never a bad idea. The more you pray, the more opportunity to see Him answer prayers, which can also help build your faith and overcome doubt.

This week, challenge yourself to cultivate spiritual disciplines that foster humility, faith, and consistency. Reflect on areas of your life where you may have allowed pride, doubt, or convenience to overshadow your spiritual growth. Engage in regular prayer, seeking to become a place where God's presence dwells.

Ask yourself these questions:

- How can I practice humility in my daily interactions?

- What doubts do I need to surrender to God to strengthen my faith?

- How can I make consistent prayer a priority in my life?

By embracing these disciplines, you can experience the transformative power of the Holy Spirit and become an agent of change in the world around you.
